Police say the occupants of the Honda drove to the Petro Canada gas station at New Street and Guelph Line in Burlington and carjacked a 2005 Mazda around 11 a.m. Metelsky said a woman approached the Mazda driver while she was pumping gas and asked for directions. When the driver went back to her vehicle to write down some directions, witnesses saw two women open the passenger side door and push the driver out of the car. "The girls came from the passenger side and pushed the lady out the driver's side. It all took less than one minute," Safdar Ali, said a Petro Canada worker who was on duty that day. "She lay down on the ground unable to stand," he said of the forcibly-removed victim. "I was thinking at first it was a family (argument) because I have seen that before." When the Mazda sped away without the woman in it, Ali said he realized it was a more serious situation. He and several customers called 911. Burlington woman, struck her head in the altercation, was treated for a minor injury at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital and was released the same day. As the stolen vehicle sped off, it struck another vehicle at the gas station. A second Halton police pursuit of the morning began soon after, said Metelsky. "It travelled all over Burlington and eventually got on the QEW eastbound," he said. The car left the highway in Oakville and was abandoned at Ford Drive and Royal Windsor Drive at approximately 11:30 a.m. Metelsky said police found two women walking around a Tim Hortons store in the area matching the suspects' description and arrested them. They did not enter the store and were soon followed by a wave of police, she said. "I saw a swarm of cop cars and the one girl closer to the road was tackled down. Another girl was in handcuffs," said Angela, who estimated that at least eight police cars were on the scene. Police believe both suspects were under the influence of something at the time of their arrest. "I can't give a professional opinion on what they were on," Metelsky said, "but their behaviour was impaired. Both females were treated for a medical emergency at the time." The detective said one of the women appeared to be having a seizure, so both were taken to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. A 26-year-old woman was treated and released from hospital into police custody, while a 28-year-old woman was initially reported to be in a coma, but has since regained consciousness, said Metelsky. Six tablets of OxyContin, a prescription painkiller, were found during a search of the 28-year-old woman, said Metelsky.
