With great sorrow, the family announces that Jean Anna Martz (nee Sitarski) passed away quietly on January 9, 2010 at OakvilleTrafalgar Memorial Hospital. Jean is the widow of Douglas Martz. She is pre-deceased by twin sister Josie Galezowski and is survived by two sisters (Julie Davis and Jennie Farkas), two brothers (Walter and Edward), 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Jean resided in Oakville most of her life. She was an avid bridge player and her sociability helped to keep the whole family together. After suffering a s t r o k e i n D e c e m b e r, h e r h e a l t h declined rapidly. Her family would like to give special thanks for the attentive care provided by Dr. Martinovic and the other staff at the hospital. Visitation will take place at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Januar y 16 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) Oakville, followed by a service at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel and then a buffet lunch. She was a gentle, humorous and dynamic woman who lived a full and rewarding life. Goldie will be most remembered by all who knew her for her dignity and strength of character. Goldie was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter and her loving sons John and Paul, her cherished daughter in law June and her great grandson Kevin. She is survived by her devoted daughter Mary (Robert Hissink), caring daughter in law Bonnie, Grandchildren; Linda, Barbara, Karen, Judy, John, Matthew, Mark, Robyn, Lindsay, David, 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter.
