Bishop Tonnos scored in overtime to edge the Tigers 2-1 and advance Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) tournament. "They had a little more jump than us," said Blakelock coach Ron Larose. "Then it was three-on-three in overtime and that's tough on tired players." Blakelock opened the scoring as Michelle Saunders beat the Tonnos goalie with a wrist shot from the faceoff circle in the second period. Bishop Tonnos tied it up before the end of the period, though. Tonnos controlled the play in the third but Blakelock goalie Brittany Aldworth held her opponents at bay. "She was very busy," Larose said. "Without her, we wouldn't have gotten to overtime." But Bishop Tonnos would finally get the winner in the extra period. Aldworth is one of six graduating players from Blakelock's Halton championship team. Sisters Michelle and Alex Saunders, Hayleigh Cudmore, Hilary Newman and Natalie Gingrich are also in their final year. -- Herb Garbutt, staff writer Lindsay wins Ontario curling title their curling club for all of their hard work.
