"Hopefully it's not indicative of the entire drive," said volunteer executive director Dudley Clark who admits he is somewhat worried after the first three days of the drive came up short -- by thousands of pounds of food donations -- compared to previous years. "We're down quite a bit. We're not talking several hundred pounds, but several thousand pounds, so it's Dudley Clark quite a bit down" said Clark. The drive began Saturday, March 27 and continues through Sunday, April 11. In its first three days however the drive collected 11,855 pounds of food. That compares unfavourably to the 16,630 pounds collected in the same period in the Easter 2009 drive and the 17,570 pounds collected in the first three days of the Thanksgiving 2009 drive. Fareshare depends on the Easter drive to stock shelves for the spring, summer and early fall.
