Trampoline is more than just fun for provincial champion Langegger He got started simply because it was fun bouncing on the trampoline. Four years later, Cameron Langegger is a provincial champion. The 13-year-old recently won the novice 10-14 boys' trampoline title at the Ontario Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Oshawa. "I didn't know how it would end up," Langegger said. "I guess the first time I was told (I would be competing provincially), I was determined to see how far I could go." Langegger finished second at the first two Ontario Cups of the season as he's worked increasing the difficulty level of his routines. The biggest leap forward has come from adding double flips. "I had to warm up to it at first but since then I've found it pretty easy," he said. And that breakthrough has opened him up to other possibilities. "I've taken a whole new perspective," the Grade 8 student at Heritage Glen said, "but I definitely have to work a lot harder." Denis Vachon, his coach with the Burlington B.G.'s, said introducing his new skills in a competitive environment such as the provincials will only help in the future. The 6-foot-10 centre helped the Hawks win silver at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) AAA championships this past season. Loyola posted an overall record of 52-5 in 2009-10 and won seven tournaments before dropping a 56-54 decision to Martingrove in the provincial championship game. Andrews, who averaged 15 points a game for the Hawks last season, is currently a member of the Burlington Panthers -- one of the top-ranked club teams in Ontario. "Mike really addresses a major need for us up front," said Gaiters coach Rod Gilpin. "He is a long and physical player whose shot blocking and passing ability really make him special. He has good instincts for the game and has the potential to develop into one of the better post players ever to play at BU." Andrews is excited to be heading to the Lennoxville, Que. school. "I really like the idea of a small school," he said. "There was a great vibe on campus, the education program is excellent, and I'm excited about the direction that the basketball program is headed."
