Halton Regional Police Service said the other two suspects are still at large. According to police, the family had been preparing dinner when a man rang the doorbell, at around 10 p.m., and asked for one of the residents by name. The teenage daughter, who answered the door, closed it and then went to let her parents know about the visitor. At this point, three men, dressed in black and wearing masks, burst into the residence. Police said one of the men was carrying a long gun and held the victims at gunpoint for about 30 minutes, while the other two suspects ransacked the home. The family was locked in a home office before the trio left with an undisclosed amount of jewelry and cash. Police said the thieves also stole the family's black 2007 Cadillac Escalade. Once the victims were satisfied the men were no longer in the house, they fled to a neighbour's home to call the police. No one was injured during the home invasion. Police investigators do not believe this was a random act as the robbers appeared to be familiar with the victims. After the incident, police issued a Canadawide warrant for a Ryan Green, 23, of Brampton for robbery. On May 11, Halifax Police Department notified Halton police its officers had arrested Green after he was involved in an altercation in that city. Green is charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of forcible confinement, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and wearing a disguise. It was originally reported the first suspect was described as a heavyset black male, 5foot-7, with two pierced ears wearing gold star earrings, a black Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat, a black bandanna concealing the lower part of his face, a grey-and-black plaid sweatshirt and dark blue canvass running shoes. The second suspect was described as a short black male with a skinny build, while the third suspect was described as a black male, 6-foot, with a slim build. Both wore dark clothing with black bandannas concealing the lower half of their faces. The man who rang the doorbell was described as a black male in his early 20s with short hair and wearing dark clothing. The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call Halton police's Oakville Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-825-4747, ext. 2204 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
