Superior service and customer satisfaction earns Oakville Ford dealers national award by Ford of Canada Kennedy Ford Sales and OakLand Ford Lincoln Sales are among an elite group of Ford and Lincoln dealerships to be recognized with the 2009 President's Award by Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. The prestigious award honors dealerships that have excelled in automotive retailing in 2009, based on customer surveys, by providing exceptional customer service and satisfaction. For 2009, Ford of Canada is recognizing 133 Ford and Lincoln dealers across the country for delivering a superior customer experience in sales, service and overall vehicle ownership. "Earning this award is a reflection of our entire staff's commitment to delivering the best customer experience possible," says Kennedy Ford Sales owner, Malcolm Nourse. "I couldn't be more proud to receive this recognition, especially since it comes from the people we value most our customers. They are the reason we were able to achieve this award." The President's Award was introduced in Canada in 2000. Dealers become eligible through excellence in dealership operations and exceptional customer feedback through survey responses from customers related to their sales and service satisfaction and overall dealership experience. "The President's Award signifies our gratitude for those dealers who reach beyond daily tasks and make a difference to their customers," says Al McCormick, Canadian vice president of Ford Customer Service Division. "We award our dealers for their outstanding commitment to our customers because, just as Ford strives to deliver the highest quality products and technologies to customers, our dealers share that same passion in providing a worldclass experience in vehicle sales and service." 17 · Wednesday, May 19, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com Toughest testing standards for child car seats Canada's Transport Minister John Baird recently announced new regulations that make Canada's testing standards for child car seats unprecedented and worldleading. "The Government of Canada has introduced stringent new testing standards to ensure children have the best protection possible while travelling on the roads," said Baird. "Child car seats sold in Canada should first have rigorous and thorough testing completed by the manufacturer, and Canada is raising the standards with these changes." The regulations improve safety by: · introducing a unique Canadian requirement to conduct child car seat tests by using a threepoint lap/shoulder belt that has been commonly found in most vehicles for several years; · aligning Canadian standards with current testing methods to maximize the safety of kids at each stage of development; · increasing the weight limits of car seats to allow larger, heavier children to be better protected; · requiring the use of improved child-sized dummies, adopting new performance criteria and testing a new standard seat assembly; and · introducing simulated crash requirements for booster cushions, similar to those currently being used to test infant and child restraint systems. Compliance with these regulations will be optional until January 1, 2011, at which time they become mandatory for all manufacturers. `New EyeSight' safety device Metroland Newspapers Carguide Magazine Subaru has completed development of its `New EyeSight' driving assist system, a unique active safety device that uses camera technology to help drivers avoid collisions. Using two forward-facing cameras mounted either side of the rear-view mirror, New EyeSight incorporates a `Pre-Collision Braking Control' feature, which sounds an alarm to warn the driver of a potential collision with a vehicle in front. If the speed difference between the driver's vehicle and that in front is below 30 km/h, and if there is no action taken by the driver, the system will also automatically slow or stop the car in order to avoid a collision or minimize damage. In slow traffic or traffic jams, the automatic emergency braking function stops the car and holds it still until the vehicle in front starts moving again. New Eyesight advanced driver assistance system will be available first on Japanese production cars from the middle of May.
