Kia Sorento awarded 'Top Safety Pick' Metroland Newspapers Carguide Magazine Joining the 2010 Forte compact sedan and 2010 Soul urban passenger vehicle, the 2011 Sorento compact utility vehicle has been recognized as a "Top Safety Pick" by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the midsize SUV category when built after March 2010. Sorento, which went on sale earlier this year, received the organization's top honor by earning "Good" ratings (the highest achievable) in frontal, side, rear and rollover impact crash safety tests. The Sedona minivan also received the IIHS "Top Safety Pick" and "Safest Minivan Ever Tested" distinction shortly after its launch in 2006, and again in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The 2011 Sorento offers the safety-minded consumer a plenty of standard safety equipment. All trims levels come outfitted with driver and passenger advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and front active headrests, four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD). Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC) also come standard on all models, the former assisting in preventing the vehicle from rolling backward when trying to pull away from an uphill gradient, while the latter helps keep the vehicle moving straight and steady down steep grades. The first vehicle to roll off the line at Kia's new state-of-theart manufacturing facility in West Point, Georgia, the 2011 Sorento encompasses both the brand's signature design cues as well as its distinct combination of value, safety and style. 23 · Wednesday, June 9, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com The Chevrolet Camaro is now the best selling sports car in the U.S. Camaro leads U.S. sports car segment and wins New Chevrolet customers globally Metroland Newspapers Carguide Magazine Consumers made the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro the best-selling sports car in the U.S. for the first full year of sales. From May 2009 to May 2010, Camaro posted 99,872 total sales, outselling its closest competitor by nearly 20,000 vehicles. Camaro continues to bring new customers to Chevrolet dealerships - at home and overseas. In the U.S., the 2010 Camaro's first full month of sales was May, 2009. Camaro took the lead in monthly share of segment a month later and led the sales race for 11 of the last 12 months. The Camaro is also attracting customers to Chevrolet dealerships in international markets, where more than 1,000 Camaros have been sold - even before official export production has begun. As in the U.S., the Camaro has had an impact on the Chevrolet brand around the globe, according to Don Johnson, GM international operations vice president of marketing: Sales outside the U.S. are expected to grow significantly, as Chevrolet increases production to accommodate exports for Chevrolet's largest markets, including Brazil, China, Russia, and Europe. South Korea is also expected to contribute to the rise in sales next year. The new Camaro was introduced at the Busan Motor Show in April as an example of the types of products Korean customers can expect when Chevrolet begins selling cars in the country in 2011.
