Cord draws Red Wings' interest Oakville Blades defenceman Alex Cord is one of six free agents that have been invited to the Detroit Red Wings' annual prospects tournament. The 18-year-old is known as a two-way blueliner. In addition to playing with the Blades, Cord had a 10-game Ontario Hockey League audition with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors last season. Cord had a goal, eight assists and 48 penalty minutes in 38 regular-season games with the Blades last year. Cornwall led 4-3 in the fifth before pulling ahead 8-3. West Turtle Club rallied for two in the seventh and final inning but could not get any closer. This is the second straight year the Black Sox have won the senior provincial title. The Black Sox beat out the Oakville Whitecaps 8-4 in Tuesday's semifinal round. Halton will be sending two teams to compete in the Pop Warner Global Challenge Tournament at Disney World Orlando in December this year. MacDonald finished at four over par for the tournament after posting a first-round 70 and closing out the tournament with a 74.
