For the past 7 years Cathy has served as the Town Councillor for Ward 2 as well serving at the Regional Council as Councillor Olivers alternate. Prior to her municipal experience she was the Special Assistant to Gary Carr MPP Oakville ( now Halton Regional Chair ) for 13 years. During that time she advocated and assisted constituents with their various provincial issues and concerns. In addition to her council related duties Cathy also volunteers for several organizations within the community: Halton K9 Lions Club, Salvation Army Community Council, Oakville Santa Claus Parade, fostering for Dog Guides and St. Pauls United Church. An Outstanding Record On The Issues That Matter Most Successfully opposed a 16-storey development proposed for central Oakvilles neighbourhood at Lakeshore and Brant. Cathy agreed with the need for a new hospital, but voted against the funding proposal that might burden residents with additional tax. Successfully opposed a 143-unit, 4-storey, high density development proposed for the Fantasy Fruit Market Site. Played a key role in ensuring that the DND Lands at Dorval and Rebecca will no longer be vacant land, and will be developed in accordance with what the community decides Worked with local business owners to advance the revitalization of Kerr Village Shopping District.
