Designed by PBK Architects, Sixteen Mile Sports Complex is a 196,000 square foot state- of-the-art quad pad arena located at 3070 Neyagawa Blvd. This fully-accessible facility features one Olympic-sized ice pad with seam- less glass and seating for 1,500 spectators, three NHL-sized ice pads, 22 change rooms, two multi-purpose community rooms, two practice pads and a full-service restaurant. Youth and adult user groups including the Minor Oaks Hockey Association, Oakville Hornets, Oakville Skating Club, Oakville Speed Skating Club and Cruiser Sports will take advantage of ice time for a combination of practices, games, tournaments and other com- petitions. The town will also allocate blocks of time for recreational family skating, town-operated pro- grams and special events, and anticipates this facility to be a prime tournament venue. The Oakville Blades and the Oakville Skating Club and the Town of Oakvilles recently launched Oakville Recreational Hockey League (ORHL) for adult players of all skill levels will call Sixteen Mile Sports Complex home. NHL alumni game Sunday Continued from page 1 Thousands of Oakville residents lost power Monday afternoon after a fire broke out on a hydro pole at the corner of Rebecca Street and Third Line. The Oakville Fire Department was called to the scene around 3 p.m., with Deputy Fire Chief Brian Durdin stating that flames were coming from the electri- cal equipment on the pole when firefight- ers arrived. Durdin also said sparks coming from the pole had set some nearby hedges on fire, however, this was rapidly extinguished by the responding firefighters. A representative from Oakville Hydro said the fire resulted in power being lost by approximately 8,500 customers. The power outage affected two power supply lines south of the QEW with power loss reported from Bronte to as far away as Ford Drive. A malfunctioning power switch was sin- gled out as the cause of the fire.
