A 59-year-old Oakville mans wallet is a little lighter after he was conned into paying a fake speed- ing ticket to a fake Halton police officer early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. in the area of Bronte Road and Lakeshore Road as the man was driving to work. Police said a second vehicle pulled up beside the man at which point the female passenger in this vehicle ordered him to pull over because he was speeding. When the man pulled his vehi- cle over, the woman approached him and demanded his identifica- tion. When the man asked to see the womans police identification, he was told she was not required to show him that. The woman was not dressed in an officers uniform and she was not driving a police car, but police said her demeanor and questions led the victim to believe she was a police officer. Police said the woman demanded the victim pay his speeding fine on the spot and when the victim said he didnt have the money on him she accompanied him to an ATM Fake cop fools motorist Browning to skate at new arena opening See NHL page 15 See Police page 3 www.brantfl orist.com/ob 905.639.7001 HALTON TRANSMISSION 559 SPEERS ROAD, UNIT #3 (905) 842-0725 547 Trafalgar Rd. 905-845-7579 2212 Wyecroft Rd. 905-847-2595 www.carstaroakville.com
