Halton police are looking into the possibility that the suspect responsible for the armed robbery of the Sunoco Aquashine Gas Bar on Sherwood Heights Drive Thursday may also be responsible to two other crimes that week. The Sherwood Heights Drive robbery occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a lone male entered the gas station kiosk bran- dishing a baseball bat. The suspect demanded money from the lone male employee and collected an undisclosed amount of cash before flee- ing the area in a large white GMC Savana type van. Police said a similar van was spotted near the scene of another crime, which took place on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at a Petro Canada Station on Maple Grove Drive. Police said at around 5 a.m. a van was driven through the windows of the gas station kiosk so the suspect could enter the store. Nothing was stolen. A similar van was also seen at a break and enter in Mississauga Thursday evening. Halton police are working closely with Peel police to determine if any link can be made between the crimes. Police described the suspect involved in the Sunoco Aquashine Gas Bar inci- dent as a white male about 28 years old. He was approximately 5-foot-8 and had a slim build. The suspect was wearing a black hat. The suspect is considered dangerous and should not be approached by mem- bers of the public. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this inci- dent and anyone with information relat- ed to it is asked to contact the Detective Mark Underwood at 905-825-4747, ext. 2218 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS (8477). Suspect may be linked to three robberies Halton MP Lisa Raitt is getting ready for another session in Parliament and she wants to know what her constituents think are the priorities for the upcoming session. On Saturday, Oct. 2 she is visiting Milton, Burlington and Oakville. She will be at the River Oaks Community Centre, 2400 Sixth Line in Oakville, in Community Room B at 3:30-5 p.m. Registration is at 3 p.m. Following the summer break, it is time for Parliament to get back to work, and refocus on the priorities of Canadians from coast to coast to coast, Raitt said, in a press release. No voice is more impor- tant in that discussion, than the voice of Halton Region and these meetings will help determine what our community wants to see accomplished in Ottawa.
