Oakvillians young and old can come out to catch a glimpse of the big, bearded man himself. The Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee has been as busy as elves over the summer preparing for this years parade, which takes place Saturday, Nov. 20 starting at 9 a.m. This years theme is A Reel Christmas at the Movies. The parade is now accept- ing applications for float entries and encourages all those from our community to show their creativity by partic- ipating in this year's event. Application forms can be printed at www.oakvillesanta- clausparade.ca by clicking on Registration. The deadline for entries is Oct. 28 or the first 50 entries, whichever comes first. There are already a few Grinch entries, so get those creative juices flowing to come up with original themes. High schools are encouraged to enter and compete for the Best School Float. Once again, children can look forward to entering the annual colouring contest and possibly winning the chance to ride in the parade along with the Grand Marshall. Now in its 62nd year, the Oakville Santa Claus Parade is a cherished tradition in our town. The 2010 Parade takes place Saturday, Nov. 20 at 9 am. The parade will begin at Lakeshore Road and Reynolds Street, go west on Lakeshore to Kerr Street, north on Kerr and end at Kerr and Stewart streets. Submitted by the Santa Claus Parade Committee Here comes Santa Claus WITH BIRTHING KITS: Jillian Bryant was one of 20 volunteers who helped assemble 1,000 birthing kits destined for Mali in Africa. The kits included soap, razors, cause pads, gloves, umbilical tape and a plastic sheet, which are items used during childbirth. The event, held at Post Inn Village, was organized by the Oakville chapter of the Zonta Club, an international service club that works both locally and internationally in support of women and children.
