OT outscored its opponents 9- 0 in its first four contests, but then fell 3-2 to Kitchener Resurrection in the semifinals and 1-0 to Nepean John McCrae in the bronze-medal game. John McCrae outscored the Devils 3-0 in penalty flicks after the two teams played to a scoreless draw in regulation time. Resurrection won provincial gold, defeating Kitchener Sir John A. MacDonald a team OT had beaten in round-robin play 1-0 in the championship game. Daniela Deschamps and Danielle Black led the Red Devils in scoring at the tournament, each tallying three times. Alyssa Bull had two goals and Lori Israelian, Claire Newman and Elli Cookson added singles during the tournament. OTs round-robin wins came over Sir John A. MacDonald (1-0), Ingersoll DCI (3-0) and Sydenham (3-0). The Devils then beat Medway 2-0 in the quarter- finals. Devils finish fourth at OFSAA field hockey The Loyola Hawks finished fourth in the midget girls team standings at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) cross-country champi- onships last weekend in Etobicoke. Loyola finished with a team score of 305, 97 points higher than third-place Windsor St. Anne. Team scores are calculated by adding the placings of each schools top four runners. Bridget ONeil was the Hawks top finisher in midget girls, placing 24th. Isabelle Borea was 49th, Alexandra Ratcliffe was 55th and Meghan Sharpe was 177th. In individual competition, Abbey Parks Evelyn Guay and St. Thomas Aquinas Kelly Hennessy were Oakvilles top performers. Guay was 10th in the midget girls run, while Hennessy came 14th in the senior girls race. Loyola midget girls fourth at cross-country provincials Crusaders fall in Cup final Senior Titans to face Irish... again The Holy Trinity Titans seniors have earned one more shot at their Halton football nemesis. Trinity defeated the M.M. Robinson Rams 27-15 Friday at Trinity in the regional semifinals, qualifying for their second straight senior Division 1 champi- onship game. The Titans opponent Monday at Hamiltons McMaster University will be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, which dumped Trinity 40-19 in last years senior final and also defeated the Titans 24- 6 in the 2007 junior final. Trinity head coach Joe Moscato said his players, par- ticularly those in their fourth season with the team, would love to finally knock off their Burlington rival. It would mean the world to them, he said. To be honest, if we were in any other league, we would prob- ably have some championships under our belt. Last year, (Notre Dame was) ranked the best team in Ontario, and we lost to them three times last year. Its something to overcome, if we can. Im kind of happy that, as a program, we get to play them, but theyre a very good football team, he added. Notre Dame defeated the Nelson Lords 31-18 in Fridays other semifinal, earning its 24th straight vic- tory in league play. Moscato is optimistic that his Titans can give Notre Dame a stiffer test in this years final. I like to think were a bit more team-oriented and more balanced on offence, he said. But theyre still a monster. Trinity improved to 7-0 on the year with its win over Robinson last week. Brandon Clarke scored two touch- downs for the Titans, while Ashton Rochester also reached the end zone.
