One, it was my first docu- mentary. Two, we didnt really know what the story was when we were on our way to India. . . We never (previously) met the family in India. And they spoke my mother tongue which I never really learned how to speak. During his time filming, he also had to be a translator for his crew who did not speak the Indian language. I tell you I became fluent in 10 days. Nothing like neces- sity to make you really step up to the plate.
