Weekend language classes for primary ages Actor produces suspense-drama film, shoots in town By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Just before winning the Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu national title in 2003, Oakvilles Anthony Tullo had a feeling of upcoming success. Now, the fighter and actor has a simi- lar feeling about his latest film project. Ive got a good feeling about this, the life-long Oakville resident said of his short-film, titled The Secret Cross. Filming just wrapped up after six days, including one on location in Oakville and Tullo plans to screen the film this fall in Toronto. This film, I really believe is going to make a mark in the festivals. I think it could quite possibly win some, he said of the project, and expects the film to show at the Toronto International and Tribeca film festivals, as well as others. Despite writing the script and music, casting and taking the lead acting role, producing, co-directing and largely financing the film, Tullo said the 40-min- ute suspense-drama is not a one-man show. He said there were many people whose support was essential, including his wife Sherri-Ann, co-director Mario Madau, a financial supporter and industry people Kris Astaphan and Ron Deland. Those two people got the ball rolling for me, he said. The film is about a young married farmer, Jimmy Stone (Tullo), in a southern town who notices a cross on his property. He also notices a stranger coming around his wife on the farm. The farmer has a bad feel- ing about the incidents and their causes are explained as the film pro- gresses with a twist ending. Its a love story with a haunting, unsettling feel, the 41-year-old grad- uate of Sheridan Colleges music theatre program said.
