Throughout the summer, the health department does regular tests to beaches used for swimming and other water sports. It has found that the two Oakville beaches, along with the Prospect Park Old Beach in Halton Hills are unsafe for swimming. The Bronte Park Beach in Oakville, however, is deemed to have acceptable levels of bacteria and is safe for swimming, as are the Beachway Park north and south beaches in Burlington and Miltons Kelso Conservation Area.
