JP POWELL, Ralph Haffell - (Retiree of Alcan Wire and Cable, 40 years)- October 15, 1931- September 20, 2011. After a brief illness he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Kingston General Hospital. Beloved husband of Shirley (Gray) of 58 years. Loving father of Christopher (Barb), Wendy Reyes (Luis) and Bruce (Brenda). Proud Papa of Kristen, Damien, Reid, Brooke, Chantal, Solange and Sebastian. Will be dearly missed by his sisters Sheila Morrison (Gerry) a n d L i n d a L i g h t f o o t ( B o w ) . Predeceased by his parents Haffell James and Kathleen Grace Powell, his brothers Clarke and Gordon and sister Kathleen Peppiatt. Will fondly be remembered by his sisters-in-law Helen Phelan and Ruth Powell , brother-in-law Frank Peppiatt and many nieces and nephews. Ralph enjoyed his winters in Florida and his golf games with his golfing friends. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge #10 Kingston. His many family and friends will miss his easy going and giv ing nature , practical outlook on l ife, many stories, sense of humour and his love for his wife and family. Ralph's career as a technologist took him and his family from Kingston to Beaconsfield, QC to Oakville. In retirement he returned to his home town, Kingston. Thank you to his m a n y d e a r f r i e n d s f o r t h e i r thoughts, prayers and support. To celebrate Ralph's life a memorial service and gathering will be held on F r iday, September 23rd a t Cooke's- Portsmouth United Church, 200 Norman Rogers Drive. Visitation will be held at 1:00pm followed by service at 2:00pm. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at KGH. A private burial will be held at a later date. In l ieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cooke's- Portsmouth United Church will be appreciated.
