Close to 100 volunteers help on run day to make sure all runs smoothly. There are the companies who support the Run without expecting any recognition: Longos, Voortmans, Gino's Pizza (Hopedale), Licks Bronte, Mobile Ad, Physical Edge Physiotherapy, Running Company, Retro Rock Lounge, St. John Ambulance, Tim Hortons, and TD Canada Trust (Hopedale). The Town of Oakville and Regional Municipality of Halton, and their various departments, are wonderful partners in the run. Year after year, Dan Ferrone, Dorothy & Daisy Progosh, Jeannie Jelly Beans, Elizabeth Sheridan, Kinsmen Club of Oakville and Bronte BIA ensure that the day is a success. This year, Emilia Sadowski, joined us for the first time to sing while participants waited to start. There were large teams, small teams, families and individuals each there because they believe in miracles. At the finish line, one man got out of his wheelchair to walk across. A couple held hands while riding their bicycles to finish. Many partici- pants broke in to tears as they crossed the line. The Terry Fox Run is about more than just raising money it is about realizing a dream and paying tribute to a Canadian hero. For many participants, it is about remember- ing a loved one or honouring a cancer survivor. Participants raised a few dollars or a few thou- sand dollars for Terry Fox cancer research. As Terry said if you give a dollar, you are part of the Marathon of Hope. Thanks to everyone for being part of Terry's dream again this year. See you on September 16, 2012. Pam Damoff, chair Oakville Terry Fox Run Kerr Street Ministries (KSM) is looking for a few good volunteers.
