Shortly after 4:15 p.m. on the Thursday after- noon, a 74-year-old man was riding his bicycle south through Hopedale Park, towards Hopedale Mall. A man suddenly grabbed the handlebars of the seniors bike and made demands for money. The victim refused and was punched in the face, suffering a cut to the bridge of his nose and a broken orbital bone. Following the assault, the suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim was assisted at the time by a pass- erby who was walking his dog. The suspect is described as black, in his early 20s, about 5-foot-10, and 200 lbs. He was wearing a green shirt and blue base- ball hat. Police said the suspect was in the company of another man. Police are interested in anyone who has infor- mation regarding this incident and would espe- cially like to talk to the passerby who stopped to assist the victim.
