As a result of population growth, Oakvilles existing wards vary significantly in population and in the number of electors. Projected growth, particularly in north Oakville will increase the current discrepancies. The ward boundary review will address proposals for a new ward system which may alter the number of wards or change the boundaries of the current wards outlined below: Ward 1 Bounded by the centre line of Third Line, Lake Ontario, Burloak Drive and the centre line of the Q.E.W. Ward 2 Bounded by the centre line of Sixteen Mile Creek, Lake Ontario, the centre line of Third Line, and the centre line of the Q.E.W. Ward 3 Bounded by Winston Churchill Boulevard, Lake Ontario, the centre line of Sixteen Mile Creek, and the centre line of the Q.E.W. Ward 4 Bounded by the centre line of the Sixteen Mile Creek, the centre line of the Q.E.W., the westerly boundary of the town, and the northerly boundary of the town. Ward 5 Bounded by the centre line of Trafalgar Road, the centre line of the Q.E.W., the centre line of the Sixteen Mile Creek, and the northwesterly boundary of the town. Ward 6 Bounded by the easterly boundary of the town, the centre line of the Q.E.W., the centre line of Trafalgar Road, and the northerly boundary of the town. Your input is very important to us. Switching Gears (the towns Transportation Master Plan update) has just been launched to develop a practical, long-term action plan to guide the development of the towns transportation system to meet the needs of planned growth. This study will define existing problems/opportunities, consider and evaluate solutions, and will identify an optimum transportation system to the year 2031. To comply with the Environmental Assessment Act, the study is being conducted in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process. Following the open house, the next step in the process will be to develop a preferred transportation strategy taking into account comments that will be received from stakeholders and the public. A second public open house will be arranged early in 2012 to review the preferred transportation strategy and receive additional comments from you.
