STAFF WRITER Ye sterday at the Homewood Suites, hundreds lined up to cash in old coins, instruments, gold and jewellery at the Treasure Hunters Roadshow. The free event is in Burlington all week, buying gold, silver, timepieces and other valuables. One visitor I spoke with yesterday said, "It's unbelievable, I brought in some old coins that had been in a little cigar box for years and some old herringbone necklaces--in less than 15 minutes I left with a check for $700. That stuff has been in my jewellery box and dresser for at least 20 years." Another gentleman brought in an old Fender guitar his father had bought years ago. The man said, "Dad had less than 50 bucks in that guitar." The Roadshow specialist that assisted him made a few phone calls and a veterinarian in Seattle, Washington W bought the guitar for $5,700. The seller continued, "I got another $150 for a broken neckk lace and an old class ring. It's not every day that someone comes to town bringing six thousand dollars with your name on it." Jeff Parsons, President of the Treasure Hunters Roadshow, commented, "Lots of people have items that they WE BUY ALL GOLD & SILVER JEWELLERY I just finished working with a gentleman that had an old class ring, two bracelets and a handful of silver dollars. His check was for over $650. I would say that there were well over 100 people in here yesterday that sold their scrap gold." One gentleman holding his check for over $1,250 in the lobby of the event yesterday had this comment: "I am so happy I decided to come to the Roadshow. I saw the newspaper ad for the event and brought in an old German sword I had brought back from Wor W ld W II and some old coins, and here is my check. What War a great thing for our community. I am heading home now to see what else I have that they might be interested in." The Roadshow continues today starting at 9 a.m. The event is free and no appointment is needed.
