www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, January 27, 2012 · 12 Court documents show evidence of strained relationship Continued from page 9 In one correspondence over access to the children, Kyle told Katherine the children were under his protection. She in turn claimed Kyle had put the children in dangerous situations, including letting their 12-year-old son drive on a residential street. Katherine accused Kyle of sabotag- ing efforts to resolve parenting issues by not responding or changing plans last-minute. She further claimed that Kyle was not open about his finances -- he changed jobs several times throughout the separation -- and was not paying adequate child or spousal support. She had to borrow money from her father to buy her Treetop Terrace townhouse, while Kyle bought a larger, fully detached home on nearby Owl Ridge Road. She said he would involve the children in disputes by being hostile in front of them, by arranging activities for the children on days she was supposed to be caring for them, and by encouraging the children to keep secrets from her. Last March, the police were called to Katherine's home after a dispute about spending time with the children. At first she called a friend who is a police officer to come over, but when Kyle reportedly wouldn't leave, Halton police were called. Kyle Newman's family has not returned requests for comment. According to his obituary, he was "a man who brought sunshine to all who loved him" and "a devoted and loving daddy." A spokesperson for Katherine's family was not available for comment.
