www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, March 23, 2012 · 4 Senior shocked when hit by egg while driving By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF An 81-year-old Oakville man says he's still in shock after being hit in the head with an egg while driving along Upper Middle Road, near Dorval Drive, Tuesday. Gino Ganassini, who has lived in Oakville for 10 years, said he and his wife were driving westbound on Upper Middle Road when the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. "I was going about 55 km/h, getting ready to make a left turn when suddenly I hear this `Bang' and I saw I'd been hit with an egg," he said. "Part of the egg hit my head, too." As Ganassini had been driving with his window half way down, the egg had shattered on the window with some of the contents hitting him in the head, he said. His wife, not knowing what had happened, initially believed the window had shattered. "It shook him up real good and he's not an easy man to shake up," she said. As the traffic light ahead of him had now turned red, Ganassini got out of his car and "This could have been very dangerous. I could have gotten in an accident." Gino Ganassini, Oakville resident looked around, but saw nothing. He asked motorists who had also stopped if they had seen anything, but no one had. "I don't know if someone was hiding in the bushes or if it came from a car going the other way," said Ganassini. "This could have been very dangerous. I could have gotten in an accident." Ganassini said he wants people to be aware of what happened and said he has reported the incident to the police. Halton police said they are taking this incident very seriously, noting that hitting someone with an egg, particularly while they are driving a car, is considered assault with a weapon. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
