The first two events were enjoyed by participants, staff, and special guests alike, and we hope to have an experience that is equally amazing this year. Immigration lends a certain vibrancy to this community, contributing to the remarkable cultural mosaic we are proud to call home. Oakville is growing and evolving, with an ever increasing number of new Canadians coming to the library to seek information each year. We have partnered with the Halton Multicultural Council and the Newcomer Information Centre to provide our latest citizens with the assistance in building a solid and successful foundation in their new community. We have workshops to help build a Canadian career, create a network of newcomers and new English speakers, as well as settlement services for those looking for help in integrating into our community. OPL also offers materials, ranging from books to DVDs, in a variety of different languages. Public libraries are truly for everyone; no matter where you come from, how long you've lived here or what language you speak. It is our goal at OPL to make it easier for everyone living in this wonderful country to reap its benefits. OPL's third annual Canadian Citizenship Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 19.
