Mother Teresa ties for first at Catholic meet Mother Teresa, St. Matthew and St. Marguerite d'Youville led the way for Oakville schools at the Halton Catholic District School Board's elementary system track-and-field championships last week in Burlington. Mother Teresa tied with Georgetown's St. Catherine of Alexandria for the most team points at the meet, finishing with 66 apiece. Mother Teresa's points were split evenly between its boys' and girls' squads, both of whom finished second in their divisions with 33 points. St. Matthew wasn't far behind in the overall points race, racking up 63, and won the female team title with 49 points. St. Marguerite, fourth overall in points, was third in the male points race with 32. In individual action, four Oakville students set new meet records in their respective events. St. Matthew's EmmyLou O'Neill broke the record in the tyke girls' long jump, leaping 3.74 metres; Mother Teresa's Lauren Amaral-Anderson won the bantam girls' 200m in a record time of 29.37 seconds; Mother Teresa's Megan Nixon set a new standard in the bantam girls' long jump, clearing 4.20 metres; and St. Andrew's Mary Milicevic eclipsed the record in bantam girls' shot put with a heave of 9.85 metres.
