Drive One 4 soccer club and Little League Canadian Cancer Society Halton Unit urgently needs drivers to take people to and from their cancer related appointments. Drivers are given a per kilometer rate of pay and parking is always paid for. The Halton Unit, which covers Oakville, Burlington and Milton, is also looking for leadership volunteers to help organize such events as Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer, Pink Ribbon and Relay for Life. The events are part of the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited's Drive One 4 UR Community program, which raises money for schools and youth programs by testdriving a Ford. This Sunday (Aug. 12), Oak-Land Ford Lincoln is partnering up with the Oakville Soccer Club to raise up to $6,000 during the Drive One event, held at Pine Glen Soccer Centre (1520 Pine Glen Rd.). Test-drives will be available from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oak-Land Ford Lincoln is also helping the Oakville Little League to raise up to $6,000 with a Drive One event Saturday, Aug. 18 at Cornwall Road Park (425 Cornwall Rd.), also from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Two upcoming Saturday events will be hosted by Kennedy Ford to benefit the Oakville Soccer Club on Aug. 18 and Aug. 25. Both events will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre with organizers hoping to raise up to $12,000, collectively. For each test-drive -- lasting approximately seven to 10 minutes -- completed during each event, Ford will donate $20 to the Oakville Soccer Club and Oakville Little League. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver's license -- there is a limit of one test-drive per household.
