Fire Safety open house Fire Prevention Week will kick off in Oakville with a free open house Saturday at the Oakville Fire Department Training Campus. The annual event runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at 1144 South Service Rd. W. Fire Prevention Week is a tradition across North American and the Oakville Fire Department has participated the past 12 years by hosting a kickoff event. Pre-registration will take place on site, today (Friday) from 3-6 p.m. and Tour de Halton supports new hospital again at 7 a.m. Saturday. The 100-km ride will start at 8 a.m., while the 50-km ride leaves at 9 a.m. and the 25-km ride will move out at 10 a.m. At the end of the ride, beginning around 11:30 a.m., cyclists and their family and friends are invited to attend a celebration at Holy Trinity that includes a barbecue lunch, prizes and activities for kids.
