"I said, `If you want to be successful as a band, you're going to have to come out here mornings for sectionals and full rehearsals,'" he recalled. When he's not teaching in school, Gassi also plays with the Kindred Spirits Orchestra in Markham and the Brampton Symphony Orchestra. He also conducts the Oakville youth band High Rendition Jazz.
