Kraft Canada to close Oakville plant in 2013 Kraft Canada announced late yesterday (Thursday) that it intends to close its Oakville, manufacturing facility in the third quarter of 2013. The plant, located at 2830 Plymouth Dr., makes coffee for retail and foodservice customers. The approximately 65 employees of the Oakville plant were informed of the company's plans prior to the announcement being made public. "After careful analysis and review, we identified some opportunities to gain efficiencies, combine production and reduce expenses across our manufacturing facilities," said Julie Edwards, vice president, Integrated Supply Chain, Kraft Canada. "Our Oakville facility is very under-utilized and we don't see that changing. We will consolidate production at other facilities within our network that have capacity," said Edwards in relation to the closure announcement. The site's foodservice beverage equipment service centre will also close next year. "This is not a reflection on our employees in Oakville," Edwards said. "This is a strategic decision that has nothing to do with their performance, which has been excellent.
