Blades' Renouf second in OJHL scoring An eight-point weekend moved Oakville Blades forward Jonah Renouf (pictured) firmly into second place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League scoring race, one point behind Buffalo's Tyler Gjurich. Renouf and his twin brother, Nathan, both had a goal and four assists in the Blades' 11-5 rout of the Hamilton Red Wings Saturday in Hamilton. The previous evening, Jonah Renouf scored a goal and added two helpers to lead Oakville to a 4-1 win over the Mississauga Chargers at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. With 23 goals and 33 assists in 27 games, Renouf was actually tied with Gjurich for the points lead going into Monday's action. Gjurich, who has played nine more games than Renouf, moved back ahead with a goal in the Jr. Sabres' 5-3 loss to the Toronto St. Michael's Buzzers. Other key contributors for the Blades Saturday included Eli Berg and Matt Alvaro, who had two goals and an assist each. Spencer Bacon stopped 22 of 27 shots to pick up his second win in as many starts for Oakville. Patrick Chore added a pair of markers and Zach Berg, Len Fabbri and Kyle Jenkins contributed singles. Friday, Nathan Renouf, Rory Bell and Eric Chore scored goals and Patrick Chore had two assists in support of Evan Buitenhuis, who carried a shutout into the third period and made 21 saves on the night. Oakville (19-7-3) trails the Buzzers by three points for top spot in the South Division standings. Oakville extended its unbeaten (5-0-3) run last weekend by earning a 3-3 tie with the Leaside Wildcats Friday in Toronto, then taming the Southwest Wildcats 8-2 Saturday at Joshua's Creek Arenas. Eight different Hornets scored goals in the victory over Southwest. Hayley Scamurra and Michelle Quick had a goal and two assists, while also Oakville goal-scorers included Heather Platt, Kristin Gilmour, Savannah Newton, Amanda Pereira, Heather Hood and Brooke Caligiuri. Hood and Caligiuri's markers were the first of their PWHL careers. Kierra Lambertucci made 16 saves to record the victory in net. Against Leaside, the Hornets got goals from Platt, Quick and Pereira. Platt and Pereira also contributed assists, and Camille Leonard stopped 20 of 23 shots.
