The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) announced the protest Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after, the Halton District School Board confirmed it will close its elementary schools for the day due to its inability to provide adequate supervision to students. "We're disappointed this is happening... for the interruption in education and also for the inconvenience for parents," said school board Education Director David Euale. "We'll try to manage it as best we can and, hopefully, this will be the limit of it." All Halton public elementary schools will be closed during the one-day protest. See Schools page 4 By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Threatening note sent to Sheridan ERIC RIEHL / OAKVILLE BEAVER / @halton_photog hard at work: After much persistence in searching for beavers to photograph, Oakville Beaver photographer Eric Riehl was able to catch this beaver hard at work on Bronte Creek. The animal was not alone and there was much evidence of the beavers' activities. Though Riehl has persistently staked out the creeks over two years in search of such a photo, he just happened upon this one as he was out photographing pond hockey on Bronte Creek early in this new year. Halton police are investigating after an envelope containing a threatening letter and mysterious white powder arrived at Sheridan College Monday afternoon. Police said at around 1:30 p.m., the letter, which was mailed to a specific school administrator, came to the attention of members of the college's faculty who noticed the partially-open letter contained a white powdery substance.
