The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) -- representing 76,000 public elementary school teachers and support workers across the province -- planned a massive one-day protest last Friday, which would have forced public school boards to close their elementary schools. High school students to demonstrate today By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Today (Wednesday), the day when high school teachers intended to protest, their students will hold an in-school protest instead. The Organization of Ontario Secondary Students (OOSS) is made up of high school students across the province striving to promote student interests, has organized the Sport Your Extra-Curricular Day. Students in Oakville high schools and those around Ontario are wearing their team jerseys, club sweaters and school colours in a bid to send a message that extracurricular activities are important to them. Extracurricular activities have been on hiatus for several months in public schools as teachers have been protesting the provincial government's Bill 115 by cutting extracurriculars and administrative duties.
