Police warn homeowners after series of Joshua Creek break-ins Halton police are asking Oakville residents to be alert after at least 10 break-ins to homes in the Joshua Creek area earlier this month. Police said recent reports indicate the Joshua Creek neighbourhood and surrounding areas of northeast Oakville are being targeted by a group of thieves that typically breaks into homes while the owners are at work between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is believed the culprits most likely watch the area to see when residents leave their homes, and then ring the doorbell several times to ensure no one is in. Once the thieves are satisfied the house is empty, they force open the front door, ransack the home and steal jewelry, small electronics and cash. On Thursday (Jan. 17) at around 1:30 p.m., police said, a Coronation Drive resident returned home after being away for a short time and found two suspects in the house attempting to steal valuables. The suspects fled the residence immediately, but were able to make off with a quantity of jewelry. T h e first suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his early 30s, with a muscular build, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-3 in height, with a shoulder-length cornrow hairstyle. He was wearing a black tuque, black hoodie, black pants and dark shoes. The second suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his late 20s, 6-foot-1 in height with a thin build and short hair. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants. The suspects were last seen getting into a black Cadillac-type, four-door sedan parked nearby on North Ridge Trail. Police are asking residents to pay special attention to suspicious vehicles or suspicious people in their neighbourhood, get a description and immediately report their observations to police.
