The atom A Hornets fell 2-1 to the Whitby Wildcats, the atom AA Hornets were defeated 3-2 in a shootout by the Durham West Lightning, and the bantam AA Hornets were blanked 2-0 by the Etobicoke Dolphins. Clara Chisholm (pictured right) led the way, earning juvenile ladies silver at both the STARSkate championships and the provincial Skate Ontario Cup Championships. Zoe Defrang and Tessa Sjolander also competed at the STARSkate championships, which were a qualifying competition for the Skate Ontario Cup. Defrang finished 12th in pre-juvenile and Sjolander was 14th in juvenile. Abigail Leinweber, Madeline Schizas and Natalie Walker all finished first in their flights and earned spots in the final at the Central Ontario STARSkate Championships in February. Leinweber placed second out of 16 in the pre-preliminary finals, while Walker earned bronze and Schizas placed seventh in preliminary competition. The STARSkate competition was the most prestigious event of the season for the girls, who also earned medals at each of the other three competitions they entered. After going 14-4-4 in regular-season play, the Hornets entered the Central West playoffs as the third-ranked team. But Oakville defeated the Grand River Mustangs, Haldimand Rivercats and Norfolk Hericanes Cricket team wins two of three games in Jamaica An Oakville Cricket Academy under-15 team won two of three games it played as part of a recent tour of Jamaica. Oakville lost its opening game by seven wickets to Excelsior High, the Jamaican U15 champions. Oakville then bounced back to defeat Ardenne High by 25 runs and Kingston College by 19 runs. All matches were played at the test playing ground of Sabina Park. The tour was part of the U15 team's preparation for the 2013 junior season and was also designed to expose players to different playing conditions and experiences. Last year in its inaugural season, the Oakville Cricket Academy won the Toronto & District Association U15 title. The academy's U19 team also established a record for the most runs in a game, scoring 294 runs for three wickets. This year, the academy seeks more glory as it fields teams at the U13, U15, U17 and U19 age levels.
