K I C K I N G U P 5 | Friday, April 26, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Thieves strike while woman gardens Spring gardening has left an Oakville woman lighter in the pocketbook. Halton police are looking for the suspect(s) responsible for breaking into a Hixon Street home Monday -- while the owner was outside in their garden. Police reported the victim was outside her house gardening for the bulk of the day during which time her doors were closed, but unlocked. When she went back inside at approximately 5 p.m., she noticed her bedroom door was open. The woman then discovered someone had stolen cash and a diamond ring from a drawer in her room. Her wallet had also been stolen from a purse left inside the house. Allan Street road closure won't affect the hospital's Emergency entrance Starting Monday (April 29), Allan Street will be closed for paving between MacDonald Road and Randall Street as part of Halton Region's wastewater main replacement project. The road will reopen by Friday, May 10, or as soon as the work is completed. The Allan Street entrance to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room will not be affected by the closure and can be reached by car from MacDonald Road. Local traffic and emergency vehicle access on Allan Street will be maintained at all times. Through traffic will be detoured to Reynolds Street. A map showing the affected roadway and vehicle detour route can be found on the Region's website under Regional Construction Projects, http://bit.ly/YN5hYN. The project is part of Building a Better Halton, the Region's infrastructure construction plan for roads, water, wastewater, and waste management projects across Halton Region. Investigation began in March of 2012 continued from p.1 one count of perjury and one count of obstructing justice. The Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) laid multiple charges against Laramee in March 2012 under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act (REBBA) 2002. It also suspended the registration of Brekland Realty Group and froze its bank accounts. "The suspension order and the charges relate to a significant shortfall of funds from the brokerage's trust account," said RECO Registrar Allan Johnston, at the time. The RECO charges came after a routine RECO inspection discovered a large sum of money missing from the brokerage's trust account. The Mississauga-based realty group employed approximately 213 people at branch offices in Oakville, Mississauga and Milton. It was reported in March 2012 Laramee had filed for bankruptcy on RBL Capital Corporation.
