www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, May 9, 2013 | 22 Heatwave beach volleyball raising cash for SickKids Summer is coming a little early, as the fourth annual Heatwave Halton Beach Volleyball Tournament will serve up funds for cancer research Saturday (May 11). The one-day, co-ed beach volleyball -- competitive and recreational -- tournament will benefit cancer research at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the new SickKids Centre for Research and Learning. "We are proud to support SickKids once again this summer," event founder Rosanne O'Neill said in a press release. "The Heatwave Beach Volleyball Challenge is a great way to get active, stay healthy and happy, and support children's health." The cost to register per team is $400 -- last year 24 volleyball teams participated. Originally started in 1995 at Ashbridge's Bay Park in Toronto, the event has since expanded across the GTA, includes a winter tournament, Icewave, and raised more than $2.7 million for childhood cancer research.
