G E T T I N G T H E S T O R Y Giving blood could save a life this weekend Before the Victoria Day long weekend, Canadian Blood Services is asking people to take a moment to save a life. A blood donation clinic will held tomorrow (Friday, May 17) at Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd., South Atrium from 1-7 p.m. While there is a continuous need for all blood types, there is always a greater need for the `universal donor' -- donors with O-negative blood. Canadian Blood Services staff said when someone is dying there is no time to check blood type, so hospital patients receive O-negative. It is the blood type used in the most critical situations, e.g. for neonates, patients with compromised immune systems, and trauma victims. To make a future appointment to donate blood, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2DONATE (1888-236-6283). 9 | Thursday, May 16, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com THERE'S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO DESIGN YOUR DREAM AYA KITCHEN With pen, camera and copies of the Oakville Beaver in-hand, Beaver staff reporter David Lea, left, speaks with St. Mary Elementary School students, from left, Marco Saiolla, Johnny Delisimunovic, Zack Martins and John Ogundeji about a career in journalism.
