A group effort was recognized during last week's ceremony at the Halton Regional Police Headquarters for thwarting an armed bank robbery on Oct. 22. Among them were Parker the police service dog along with Sergeant Chuck Vlasic and Constables Holly Campbell, Tim Corbeil, Mark Dienstmann, Ron Ferlin, Tara McLorn, Dave Mennie, Dave Preece, Mike Van Maaren and Mark Vegso. On Oct. 22 last year, a man enParker tered the Royal Bank at Fourth Line and Speers Road, levelled an automatic carbine ri e at the tellers and demanded money. After receiving the cash, the man ed on foot as police converged on the scene. Witnesses provided valuable information and of cers closed the area to box in the suspect. Vlasic took command, organizing the closure and calling in the tactical response and canine units. Parker sniffed out a man who was arrested a short distance from the bank.
