Candidates lining up for potential new federal riding continued from p.1 in the 2015 federal election. Adams said she's in fact picking up and moving to Oakville early this summer in order to live in the area. On Monday, Burlington native Chris Cottingham unveiled a `Contract with Oakville North-Burlington,' a set of principles and beliefs Cottingham says he would bring to Ottawa if elected as a Member of Parliament. Both are seeking the Conservative Party nomination for the proposed riding. The Oakville portion of the riding, as currently proposed, would include the area bounded by Dundas Street East to the north, Eighth Line to the east, Upper Middle Road to the south and Burloak Drive/Tremaine Road to the west. In Burlington, the proposed riding would be bounded by Hwy. 407 to the north, Burloak Drive/Tremaine Road to the east, the QEW to the south and Walkers Line to the west. The riding would also include residents living east of Guelph Line between Hwy. 407 and Upper Middle Road. The Oakville North-Burlington riding holds a population of 114,378 people. A significant increase in the country's population prompted a recalculation of the number of seats within the House of Commons, which in turn has led to a boundary review. Ontario's population increase from 11.4 million in 2001 to 12.8 million in 2011, as recorded in the latest census, has caused the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario to recommend the addition of 15 electoral districts. The Ontario Commission has submitted its report redrawing the province's federal electoral map to the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. The report has been tabled in the House of Commons and the new electoral boundaries are likely to be in effect for the next fixed federal election date of Oct. 19, 2015.
