Hornets' Stenason part of RIT freshman class Oakville resident Lindsay Stenason was part of the Rochester Institute of Technology's largest women's hockey freshman class in eight years. Stenason, who played last season for the Provincial Women's Hockey League's Oakville Hornets, was among the 10 players introduced recently by Tigers coach Scott McDonald, an Oakville native entering his eighth season at RIT. Stenason is expected to play both forward and defence for RIT next year. The Tigers already feature another Oakville resident, Ali Binnington, who was the team's No. 1 goaltender last season. RIT is coming off a 16-16-5 showing in its inaugural year in NCAA Division 1. Oakville blanked the Lakeshore Heat 3-0 in the gold-medal game, avenging a 2-0 defeat in roundrobin play that was Oakville's lone loss at the competition. Oakville's other victories came over the West Carleton Talons (3-0), OISC Black (3-0) and North Bay Selects Jets (2-1). U15 girls win Niagara soccer title Oakville Soccer Club's under-15 girls' B team recently won the Niagara United 15/16 tournament, going undefeated in the competition. Oakville scored a goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation time to edge U15 Oshawa Tural Titans 1-0 in the final, following previous wins over U16 Niagara United Fury (3-0), U16 Southend United (21) and U15 Oshawa (1-0). "(Their) ability to capitalize on their scoring chances and their discipline and organization when defending proved to be the difference in the tournament," said Oakville head coach Philip Martino.
