The celebration is set for Tuesday (Aug. 27) at 4:30 p.m. at the Milton Sports Centre, 605 Santa Maria Dr. The event will include experienced craftsmen who will guide the children through the step-bystep process of crafting a shofar. Traditionally , a shofar is a hollowed-out horn of a ram or similar animal and is blown on Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and at the end of Yom Kippur (day of atonement). In biblical terms, the instrument is traced back to the sacri ce of Isaac, when a ram took the place of Abraham's son on the altar. The shofar symbolizes repentance associated with Rosh Hashanah.
