Driver of truck that plunged into lake died of drowning, police confirm Halton police announced Wednesday that a 43-year-old Burlington man whose pickup truck plunged into Lake Ontario at the foot of Burloak Drive on Aug. 12 died of drowning. The cause of death was released following a post-mortem examination. The pickup truck carrying the Burlington man, whose name has not been released by police, was travelling southbound on Burloak Drive shortly after midnight on Aug. 12 when it plowed through a guardrail and plunged into Lake Ontario. The vehicle came to rest in about three metres of water and about 45 metres from shore. Firefighters pulled the man from the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at Joseph Brant Hospital.
