Officers provided little information at the time, but an initial investigation determined the suspects involved fled on foot and were possibly armed. As a precaution, five area elementary and high schools, including Munn's, River Oaks and Post's Corners public elementary schools, White Oaks Secondary School, and St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School were placed in `hold and secure' mode. That means all movement in and out of the school was stopped, however, activities inside the school continued as normal. At 10:47 a.m., the hold-and-secure status was lifted at all schools as officers reported the suspects were no longer believed to be in the area. As of mid-day Tuesday, police were asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects. According to a release from Sgt. Dave Cross, the two men entered the home through an unlocked front door and then headed upstairs to a bedroom. It's alleged the intruders accosted a man and woman in the bedroom and, following a brief scuffle with the couple, fled on foot. The two men were last seen running northbound on a trail system to the east of Sixth Line. The victims sustained minor injuries during the encounter. Police now say no weapons were involved. Nothing was stolen from the home. Police believe the residence was targeted by the suspects and that the home invasion was not random. The first suspect is described as white, wearing black pants and an `old man' mask. The second suspect wore black pants, a gray hoodie and an `old man' mask.
