And in the restaurant's calming ambiance we found hope -- a wonderful wine from a California winery , winsomely named Forlorn Hope, set the world (and my wife's stomach) right. By the time we left the restaurant we were ready to take on The Windy City. The next morning we awoke, feeling great, and outside it felt like summer as the city surfed an autumn heat wave. By noon we were on rented bikes, peddling along The Lakefront Trail. Over the ensuing days, we ate, drank, shopped, people-watched, made a pilgrimage to Second City , caught an exhibit at The Art Institute of Chicago, and basically immersed ourselves in all things Chicago. On our nal night, we sauntered into a typical Chicago steakhouse and were seated beside a lanky , bibbed guy who was about to tuck into a 32-ounce steak. Our arteries cried and cloggedup in empathy.
