Each year, the three-day art exhibit features artists from Oakville, Mississauga, and across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, making the show one of the largest artistic exhibits in southwest Ontario. One new artist shows at this exhibit every year with visitors coming from all over the GTA and Niagara Peninsula. It's Cinderella but with a twist at Burl-Oak Theatre The Burl-Oak Theatre Group will put on its first holiday production in December. Cinderella A Holiday Pantomime, by Bernard and Charlotte Stern and adapted by Chantal Forde, is the modern-day version of the classic story and features all the treasured elements audiences remember, combining them with interactive fun, some new "zany" characters, and a festive spirit for audiences young and old. "Burl-Oak Theatre Group's version of Cinderella is a typical British pantomime. The script follows the traditional love story where Cinders meets her Prince Charming and features the traditional cast of characters but with a few new twists and turns along the way," stated a news release. "It's set in the present time and features a Canada's-Got-Talent-type of competition, with a Susan-Boyle-type performance. It's filled with plenty of jokes, lots of loud colourful characters and the beloved happily-ever-after ending. It's fun for everyone." Led by Forde, as director, the production stars a hairy godmother (played by Rikki Wright), the ugly stepsisters Cheyenna (Jessica Tontini) and Montana (Natasha Bromfield), the wicked stepmother (Lynne Scott), a reluctant Prince Charming (Brady Morrison), his sidekick Dan Deeley (Robin Scheffler), the king (Nick Forrow), the queen (Francesca Brugnano) and, of course, Cinderella (Meghan Greaves) and Buttons, Cinder's faithful friend (Tim Cadeny). The ensemble features Susan Forde, Bella Guy, Aiden Halliday, Nichole Halliday, Shobha Hatte, Amanda Irvine, Shawna Johnson, Avery Mason, Alison MyersGomez, Jesse Robinson, Catherine Ross, Adam Sulieman, Jojo Sulieman, Polina Tarabukhina and Lisa Weeks. Performances run Saturday, Dec. 28-Monday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, 130 Navy St. Tickets cost $15 for children and $20 for adults, and can be purchased online at www.oakvillecentre.ca or by phone at 905-815-2021.
