Corporate support ensures success of Courage Polar Bear Dip Helping those less fortunate obtain access to clean water that is the goal at the heart of the Courage Polar Bear Dip. "`Water for water' has been our unofficial line for a few years now. It is a simple way to explain how jumping in the icy water on New Year's Day also saves lives by bringing clean water to those without," said Trent Courage, co-founder of the Dip. As the Dip has grown, so too has the amount of money it has raised for World Vision's water projects. Corporate support has been critical to growing the financial success of the Dip and in turn being able to ensure clean drinking water for thousands of people. "It has been an easy decision for our company to support the Courage Polar Bear Dip," said Gary Reed, president of Thermor Ltd. "We have seen the impact our donation has made to improve the lives of those living without clean water and sanitation." Corporate support has also come from local companies like Shoppers Drug Mart (at Third Line and Dundas St.), Whole Foods Oakville and Lexus of Oakville, as well as international companies like Sun Gard, MOEN and Hanitatek. The Tin Cup Restaurant has been a long-time supporter of the event and also hosts the annual Post-Dip Party. "We were drawn to the sincerity of the Courage brothers and the volunteers who work so hard to ensure that the most money possible makes the biggest difference for others", said John Stratigeas, owner of Tin Cup. One of the new sponsors who came on board last year is Oakville Hydro. "We are pleased to be back again this year to provide corporate support to the Dip, and we encourage other organizations and businesses to join us as part of this wonderful community event," said Oakville Hydro President and CEO Rob Lister. The 29th Annual Courage Polar Bear Dip takes place on Wednesday, January 1 at Coronation Park in Oakville. The fun starts at 12:30 p.m. with entertainment and activities for all ages.
