Jazz Kennedy also scored, Lauren Patterson had three assists and Jaime Bourbonnais and Rebecca Daniel contributed two helpers each. Daniela Paniccia stopped 32 of 35 shots to record the win for the Hornets, who held a 5-1 lead in the third period before Burlington narrowed the gap. The following afternoon at Joshua's Creek Arenas, the Hornets fell 4-2 to the Kingston Ice Wolves despite outshooting their visitors 39-28. Jordan Martin and Lauren Carroll notched the Oakville markers, and Stephanie Loukes made 25 saves in a losing cause. The Hornets (6-6-3) will be home to Burlington Tuesday at Joshua's Creek, beginning at 8 p.m. Oakville will also host the Whitby Wolves Friday (8:30 p.m.), then visit the Durham West Lightning Saturday. The Oakville Blades forward collected five points in a pair of wins by the Ontario Junior Hockey League club, bolstering his already large lead in the team scoring race -- and gaining some separation from a league foe as well. "It's not just the guys on my team, it's buddies I have around the league," Sloan said when asked if he compares his season points total (30 in 28 games) to other players. "Me and Tyler Lepore (Sloan's former roller hockey teammate who has 27 points this year for the Burlington Cougars), we go back and forth with the points situation. As the season goes on, I'm sure we'll put something (extra on the line)." A season ago, points were also heavily on Sloan's mind, but in a much different way. The Oakville native opened his OJHL rookie campaign with the Mississauga Chargers by collecting nine points in 10 games, but then was held off the scoresheet for 20 consecutive contests. For someone who had always put up good numbers throughout his years in the Oakville Rangers rep system, it was difficult to deal with. "I was pretty confused at that point, and so were a lot of people," said Sloan, who attributes much of his scoring slump to a diminished offensive role in Mississauga.
