At the age of 87, Imre passed away suddenly and alone at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in Oakville, Ontario. The final days of his life were filled with sorrow and loneliness; his only joy brought by the loving and encouraging words of his family on his deathbed. Imre leaves behind his three adult children: Imre James Pallagi of Wilkie, Sakatchewan; Ilona Anne Kathleen Pallagi of McBride, British Columbia; and Sandor Gyula Wilfred Pallagi of Banff, Alberta. Also, another son, Janos Gabor Pallagi, who was adopted away at birth and remains unfound. He is predeceased by his youngest daughter, Christine Eva Ramona Pallagi who passed away in 2002. Also predeceased by his half-brother Gyula Nemes in 1999, as well as his first wife Ramona Anne Pallagi (nee Wannamaker) in 2012. He also leaves seven grandchildren; Jodi Pallagi, Terrance Pallagi, Laura Crysler, Imre Nash Pallagi, Carolyn Nash Pallagi, Tanis Pallagi and Katrina Pallagi; and six great grandchildren; Ilona d'Entremont Pallagi, Dalena Pallagi Murray, Avril Pallagi Murray, Jorja Pallagi Hastings, Elwood Schaefer and Sequoia Pallagi Hastings. "Jim" is also survived by his 79-year-old half-brother Sandor Nemes of Szihalom, Hungary, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends. Survived also by his wife Anne. Imre was the only child to György Pallagi and Ilona Kiss, born in Szent-Miklos, Hungary. He was a soldier and POW in World War II and a member of the French Foreign Legion. When he arrived in Canada in 1950 he sought to start a family in a country of opportunity. His career working on the assembly line at Ford Motor Company Limited - Oakville Plant spanned more than 30 years. He found pride in always having a new car in the driveway and wearing gold jewelry, but he held steadfast to his humble roots, giving to those in need without any thought for his own well-being. He married his first wife, Ramona Anne Wannamaker December 12, 1954 at the Hungarian Community Centre in Toronto, Ontario and they later resided and raised their children at 450 Saville Crescent in Oakville, Ontario. After their divorce, he met and married Anna Elizabeth and they resided in Oakville, Ontario. Imre has been cremated and his remains distributed amongst family members, a part of which will return to his homeland. A monument will be placed near his mother and brother in the Homeland. The family is experiencing a great loss and would like to receive any pictures or stories about our Nagypapa or the whereabouts of Janos. All family and friends who once knew "Jim" are welcome and encouraged to share their memories and friendship with his family via the Facebook memorial page, "We Miss You Imre Öden Pallagi", or by contacting his grand-daughter Jodi Pallagi at jpallagi@cogeco.ca or 519-341-4957.
